Fürst von Wrede: Exquisite craftsmanship for all the senses
The story begins on 24th May 1815, as Field Marshal Carl Philipp Fürst von Wrede (1767–1838) received Ellingen Castle, a Teutonic Order castle, from King Max I. Joseph as a royal throne and male fief – today still the seat of the princely house. Out of respect and veneration for the brave field marshal, every firstborn son is given the first name Carl.
The umbrella brand FÜRST CARL combines a variety of businesses, which together act as advocates for the region, tradition, innovation, quality and sustainability. This includes the castle brewery, the brewery restaurant, the brewery shop, the summer toboggan run, the princely farm, management of the princely real estate and the princely forests. The business is currently run by the sixth and seventh generations of the family.
In late summer of 2018 rowanberries of the highest quality from the surroundings of Ellingen were selected for a remarkable speciality – the Franconian rowanberry spirit. The delicate fruits were harvested and their stalks removed by hand. The trick is to harvest the berries at exactly the right time and to carefully process them. Then the spirit is stored for months in cellars until maturity when its wonderful fruity aroma unfolds.
At the World Spirits Award, there was gold for Rowanberry, and silver for Fränkisches Kirschwasser (Franconian Kirsch).

RSB Spirituosenerzeugung: Back to the roots
The person who came up with the idea for the gin, Dr. Klaus Burka (1959 – 21. 02.2024), was of the opinion that the many gins on the market were too far removed from the original taste of gin, namely the strong taste of juniper. Following months of trials, Sau Guata Gin was created. The name was born as an answer to the question of how the gin should taste. The answer was the Austrian word: ‘Sauguat!’ (extremely good). And so the name and the label were born.
The gin is produced under the watchful eyes of the managing directors. Their love for the product is their motivation to make the time needed to produce this gin. Pristine botanicals such as juniper, coriander, lemongrass, cinnamon, ginger, mandarin and angelica root in organic quality are used. They are distilled and bottled in 1190 Vienna, packed by hand in gift boxes and sent to customers. The gin is already known and loved far beyond the Austrian borders.
This London Dry Gin is manufactured in accordance with the most strictly regulated method in Europe. The essences for this exceptional gin are extracted from the exquisite ingredients during the carefully observed maceration process. Professionally distilled and carefully filtered following a long, well-deserved resting period and then diluted with spring water, the unmistakeable Sau Guata Gin is the result. It is not the mass of botanicals or the alcohol content that are characteristic, but the true and original gin taste which provides the opportunity to enjoy it neat or with different tonic waters and other ingredients. Back to the Roots! – that is the motto. Responding to the repeated requests from bartenders, the company has also created a 57% Navy Strength Gin.

Prevelon: Premium vodka by order of the Kremlin
Kremlin Premium Vodka was created as the official drink for all diplomatic receptions and banquets at the Kremlin and was intended as the hallmark of high-ranking events. The decision in favour of the most traditional Russian drink was unanimous. It was only produced on special order and in limited amounts. The first large batch of this ‘protocol’ vodka was ordered in February 1945 for the Yalta Conference. Kremlin Award Grand Premium came on the market in 2011 and is exported to 38 countries, and in many of them it holds the top position in the ultra-premium vodka category. Since 2016, the product range has included Kremlin Award Classic, which enjoys great popularity amongst all partners.
Two products have been added to the product range. Kremlin Award Organic is based on alcohol that is produced from the highest quality organic wheat, and on natural drinking water. The vodka passes through a multi-stage purification through pure birchwood charcoal. The alcohol for Kremlin Award Vintage is made from organic grains from the same harvest. The wheat grains are stored in a grain silo until they reach their physiological maturity in order to get a high-quality base product. The ‘luxury alcohol’ is then mixed with natural drinking water and, after purification, is granted a resting period. Production is limited to the year stated on the label.

Kweichow Moutai: China’s ‘national schnapps’ on the rise
Baijiu is the most popular alcoholic drink in China and Moutai the most famous brand, with a similar status to vodka in Russia or tequila in Mexico. Its origins go back over 2,000 years to the time of Emperor Wu of Han. These days, the national drink is frequently served at official state banquets and is used as the official state gift. Its protected source is the village of Maotai in the Guizhou province on the banks of the Chishui, the Red River. These days, more than 30,000 tons of the 53 percent alcohol Moutai are produced. In cooperation with Camus, a limited edition was launched as an homage to the greatest poets: after Li Bai in 2013, Du Fu followed in 2018. The elegant bottle showing a painting of a poem is made from the finest porcelain.
Traditional methods are used for the distillation of regional raw materials: organic sorghum and wheat and the best water. Fermentation takes place at high temperatures. During the production process, which takes a year, fresh grain is added twice to the boilers, then several boiling and fermentation processes take place. Every batch of the distillate is separated according to age, production cycle and aroma. It then matures slowly in terracotta containers and, during the storage period of at least five years, develops a fine soya aroma. Master blenders make sure that the characteristic, full flavour is preserved. The secret lies in the humid climate, the water from the Chishui, as well as in the distillation technique and maturing period.
At the World Spirits Award, there was double gold for Kweichou Moutai Du Fu Edition.
